Breast biopsy results.

Hi, this is my first post.
I have had painful cysts for the last four years and had a clear no probs mammogram four years ago. Recently I went back to get another mammogram just for peace of mind as a sibling had breast cancer and mastectomy two years ago. I then had to have a second magnified mammogram which was referred for biopsy. The nurse showed me the mammogram image of irregular shaped microcalcifications in what looked like two different clusters. I had a core needle biopsy and have just had a letter for an appointment for the results. Due to coronavirus my letter also contained another letter suggesting the results would be given by virtual appt. Thinking this would be a good sign I phoned just to check if it was a virtual appointment only to be told that everyone else that day had a virtual appointment but me and I had to attend a face to face meeting. So now I'm worried and don't know what to think.

  • Hi all, hope your well

So results day...I'm cancer free and dont need any further treatment...hadnt gone to my lymph nodes.

So back in 6 months to start my reconstruction and then yearly checks x

I am exhausted I think the massive relief and rubbish sleeping has taken its toll and I just want to crash out.

Izzy I hope your doing ok and I will be checking on you and of course thinking of you Friday...if surgery goes ahead as planned.

We are off to celebrate in our small bubble with my mum x

    Lots of love Hayley xx

    Hi Hayley,

I am so glad to hear your results. I suspect that you are absolutely delighted. You should be able to sleep better now too.

I hope that you enjoy your celebration with your mum.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Izzy,

Did you manage to make any headway with your pre op and covid test today? It's bad enough having to wait for surgery, without having these additional worries.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Ladies. Thank you for your kind words.

the surgery went well and the surgeon said he got good margins so hopefully it'll be all clear on that side of things, fingers crossed. I'm likely to go in to check the wound and take off the dressing in about 10 days and hoping the pathology will be back then - although I doubt the Ocotype will be ready.

I'm in two minds about the mammoplasty now because looking at it, the breast isn't as small as I thought it would end up being, although part of it is probably swelling. On the other hand, if the Oncotype comes back saying I could swerve radiotherapy if I went for a mastectomy then I would consider mastectomy/DIEP still.

I hope you're doing well Hayley, sounds like you're recovering amazingly.

    Hi Izzy,

I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well and, that your surgeon thinks that he got good margins. Here's hoping that your pathology results prove this.

Oncotype results always take longer than the other tests, so you are highly unlikely to get them for a while yet. Are you going to wait for the result of this before making any further decisions?

I've got my fingers crossed for good results.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
