Dimple and Sore Ribs

In October 2020 I will be 2 years clear from my grade 2 breast cancer.  I had 8 chemotherapy, a lumpectomy and 24 radiotherapy and am currently on Tamoxofin. A couple of days ago I noticed I have a similar dimple on the bottom of the same breast where I had my original tumour (discovered as a dimple and not a lump) and I have pain under the breast in between my ribs which also looks slightly swollen.   I feel physically sick with worry and I’m so scared that the cancer is back.  I spoke to a friend who works in the hospital where I had my original treatment and she is going to get my oncologist to call me but due to the coronavirus I’m worried this will delay them seeing me.  I’ve got a little boy and my husband works abroad where he’s stuck due to the Covid19 outbreak and my parents are in isolation so I feel so alone and scared. Any reassurance would be really helpful right now xx

  • I'm sorry for the worries this dimple is causing Tracy.

It's completely understandable why this is playing on your mind but fingers crossed it won't be anything sinister.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in similar situations will offer their support and reassurances soon but if you can try to keep busy until you've heard from the oncologist.

Our cancer nurses are also available for a chat on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m as well.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you so much for your feedback.

I saw my oncologist yesterday who sent me for immediate mammograms and an ultrasound and both have come back clear (I'm extremely lucky to have private healthcare through work)  They think it's scar tissue and radiotherapy tenderness.  I'm so happy and relieved.  I can't believe that 18 months on the radiotherapy is giving me grief! The gift that keeps on giving eh!

    take care all x
