Large lump in breast

Hi,

I have a large lump in the top of my left breast.  It's maybe the size of an egg.  I have an appointment next week at the breast clinic.  I'm terrified of going because of virus risks but terrified not to go as I just want to know what it is.  I know the odds are that it's far more likely to be benign but I'm sure something will need to be done due to the size.

I can't tell anyone.  My parents are self isolating and live 100 miles away.  They would be beside themselves with worry and it would be worse as they can't see me. My best friend will panic - she's lost family members due to cancer and will jump to that conclusion and stress.  I can't do that to her.

I'm becoming really stressed as the appointment comes closer.  I'm scared of doctors and hospitals anyway so the idea of going now is just awful.   I have to go alone and the fear is paralysing.

  • Please don't be afraid of the virus risks. I had biopsy at hospital on monday and they are very meticulous about cleanliness.

There were several staff in the room, I am more worried about the results than catching corona.

We have a transport service in our area that take people to medical appointments and back, the drivers also wait with nervous patients, can you find out if you have such a service in your area.

I live in a small town, so if you livei in a larger area more chance of such a service. Do you have neighbourhood sites like nextdoor.co.uk or can you find out on facebook?

  • Hi

thanks for this.  It's reassuring to hear that virus risks are minimised- I've only seen the likes of the news so it looks I'm focusing on the statistic that 80-90% of lumps are benign.

I'll have a look into the transport ideas - thanks!

I hope all is well with your results x.
