Skin cancer and swollen lymph nodes

I use the app called skin vision and found that i have a high risk mole on my back, this was back in October. So book an appointment and was referred to a minor ops doctor. So a few months later my appointment came round and the doctor said it was too large for him to remove so a appointment with the hospitals dermatology department. Any after waiting a month or so I get a text telling me I have a appointment back at my doctors. So I go in and its the same doctor and he asks why I've come back as its too large for him to remove, so I show him my text. So he then makes another appointment with the hospital. The date of it is June 10th.

As times gone on I've noticed 2 others near the large high risk one on my back. So I used Skin Vision again and those 2 are also high risk. Ive also had problems with lymph nodes on my neck, under my jaw. One is about 2/3cm, I've had this for a few months. There are also smaller ones on the side and back of my neck on the same side (only noticed them recently)

I've had my bloods done, mri of brain, and chest xray. All were clear.

I've lost my brother to a brain tumour a few years back, my mum to pancreatic cancer last november and now my poor dad has a visable cancerous lump on his head. I'm 36 and struggling to cope with everything and I just feel no ones bothered or taking me serious. I really dont know how much longer I can take this

  • Sorry you lost your brother, and mum, that must be terrible and now your poor dad HUGS!

Please don't try to self diagnose online, from personal experience it makes things much worsee.

Sorry you have to wait till June 10th, if you are concerned can you go back to your GP, mine treated mine pronto and its only a match head sized little lump in my mouth, got biopsy.

Especially, as you noticed those 2 extra lumps and problems with lymph nodes on neck, under jaw.

Does doc know about these, I rang 111 initially and they contacted GP to make sure I was seen pronto, and they have all been great although my problem is minor, this is with corona too.

Glad your tests were clear though.

Please give GP a ring and if so ring 111, you should be taken seriously, 111 will listen they are great, tell them all you have told us on here.

  • Hi,

I'm sorry to hear you are being so messed about with this, especially with the worry regarding the loss of family to cancer.

Does your GP know about your swollen lymph nodes? Hopefully it won't be connected to your mole as skin cancer that spreads to the nodes usually only swells in one node, not multiple ones. Also, spread from the torso usually goes to the axilla nodes (armpit) whilst melanoma on the head, face or neck goes to the neck nodes. Having said all that, I would contact your GP, even if it's a telephone consultation, and voice your worries - hopefully they can contact the hospital and bring forward your appointment. You could also contact the hospital & tell them to put you on the standby list in case anyone cancels.

You may also want to contact the Melanoma Helpline at Melanoma Focus. They have a dedicated skin nurse who you can talk to if you are worried about a mole, surgery etc. They may well be off for Easter weekend but you can leave a message or email them. This is the link melanomafocus.com/.../

Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

    Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient)

  • Hi Justme83.

Hows it going? What was the outcome of your moles in the end? All good I hope.
