Lump under armpit

Hi there,

I recently found a lump under my armpit. It is the size of a small marble. Due to the current situation with coronavirus I have not been examined by a doctor. I was able to talk to her via video call. She has prescribed antibiotics. I am really worried. It is not red or angry looking and is a firm lump to touch. Does anybody have similar stories to share?

  • [@Allonmyleftside]‍ I found a lump under my right armpit in December. I was given antibiotics first and it didn't go. I had an ultrasound in March due to it not going and I felt it was getting bigger, I was told it was a 'benign lump'. I've also been to the breast clinic yesterday at my request as I wanted a second opinion and the radiologist said it was likely a lipoma and confirmed it did not appear to be anything sinister on the scan. The breast clinic was very thorough and I also saw the breast surgeon who checked my breasts. I was really worried like you and had already convinced myself I had cancer. It's easier said than done but please try not to google (I did this and scared myself silly) hope this helps a bit.

  • @emsy90 thank you very much for your reply. I have AVOIDED the Internet. Its this 2 week wait am not looking forward too.

  • Hi

i currently have a hard lump in my armpit went to the doctors who checked me over and when she felt it had a look on her face that scared me a little, she was like this seems deep inside so not sure what she meant. I don't get pain under my armpit but told her that my right breast hurts when touched on the side or if i lay on it. I have been referred for a hospital appointment at the breast clinic which I had to wait over 5 weeks for the appointment to come through due to covid. I would definitely recommend asking to be referred. I was referred due to the history of breast cancer and cancer in my family. My appointment is on the 6th Jan so am really worried all I can think of at the moment.

  • Hello.

I have just been reading the full conversation and can understand all your worries as I'm feeling exactly the same it's horrid. I have also found a lump under my armpit, quite small, moves but spongy/marble feel to it. It's been there for around 3 weeks that I've noticed. Also got pain in the left side of the breast where the armpit is. I had a baby 6 weeks ago so not sure if it's hormonal. Got an appointment on Wednesday, doctor wasn't overly concerned but sent me under 2 week rule for my peace of mind. Absolute torture waiting for the appointment, my head is mashed, googling does not help and it's the worst thing for it. Everytime I start playing with it, I feel it gets bigger. It hasn't grown anyway.

I hope you have had a successful outcome

    Take care,

    Katie

  • Hi there

3 weeks ago I found a lump under my armpit. Mine is a size of pea, went to the doc but says nothing to worry about after she examined the lump. Reading this article and heard lots of people got lumps in they armpit. I wonder, Is this because of covid

  • Hi

I had my booster last Xmas and then a day later had covid I haven't been right since, my lymph nodes have been up and down.

I did find a lymph node size painful lump in my right armpit, a week previous to this I had shaved and really irriated it I've had antibiotics and now on to my second week of them. I had a melanoma stage 3 on my right flank 10 years ago so you can Imagine, my imagination, anxiety has gone through the roof, I have rang the skin cancer specialist as I'm still on the books for my own sanity, so I have an appointment on Thursday 7th April. I'm super scared and my anxiety has me having sleepless nights And self diagnosing most hours of the day....does anyone else do this ? X

  • Hey all, the Internet is such a dark place and can really send you on a spiral, I'm in the same boat, had a tickly feeling under my armpit for about 2-3 weeks and overnight a lump appeared but I can only feel it if I press on it, it really really hurts as well. Examined by a nurse practicioner this AM and she had a good feel of my breasts and armpits and neck and said she can't see any shaving scratch / ingrown hair so has said it maybe a cyst / enlarged lymph nodes and given me antibiotics for a week, if not cleared up then a scan. But I think the more I worry the more poorly I get with more symptoms sometimes! We are all in this together! :-)

  • I do this all the time as per my previous post. I hope you're okay now!! X

  • Hello thanks for asking,

I got a referral for a mammogram, upper body scan, lower abdomen scan and bloods.

Everything is came back normal, they have said it is to do with the perimenaupause, but my GP won't have it and they don't want anything to do with the mention of it, even though I am super symptomatic. So every month now I have the ache and lump in the arm pit and boob, the health anxiety is ramped up and I go round in circles.

So I have started with the gym and eating a balanced diet, I am still symptomatic but in my mind I know I'm trying so it eases the health anxiety a little.

Every time I find something I panic, as I think I'm going to for the rest of my life now, but it's expected.

I hope everyone going through this knows they are not alone and the dred and the not knowing things is worse than knowing, push for appointments and to see.consultants because we deserve to get the help and know how that we need....

Blogs like this are a great help too.

Thanks again and I hope you are well x
