Lump under armpit

Hi there,

I recently found a lump under my armpit. It is the size of a small marble. Due to the current situation with coronavirus I have not been examined by a doctor. I was able to talk to her via video call. She has prescribed antibiotics. I am really worried. It is not red or angry looking and is a firm lump to touch. Does anybody have similar stories to share?

  • did urs move underskin? my doesn’t but when I stretch my skin out it comes out with it. And I can fit my full fingers around it. Very strange I know and it’s hard. Yours in the only lump I’ve came across like mine, can I ask what medication you got put on , and what did your dr say it was? My dermatologist put me on medication I had  a allergy to it and didn’t go back more fool me!  Like I said I’ve had mine for 18 months X

  • Mine was fixed but if I got it between 2 fingers I could wiggle it left and right between the fingers. The smaller it got then it became very moveable.

If you've had it so long maybe it's just a cyst or Lipoma. That's what I was told it could be. Sure your doctor will give you some reassurance. I hope it goes well xxx

  • Found a lump under armpit last week attached to muscle about the size of a golf ball if not slightly bigger. I won't go to GP as I have high blood pressure and won't take pills.

No pain unless I play with it.

My eldest son died from a brain tumour 3 years ago dad had cancer and is still here but would like to know what it is ?

    Hi Stu,

Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your son. Your symptoms should be tested to check whether or not there is anything to worry about. Don't ignore your lump becase it's not painful - most breast cancers are not sore. You say that you won't go to your GP because you don't take the pills that have been recommended for you. This is just silly. Having dealt with cancer in the family for so long, you will know that the sooner it is caught the better the outcome is.

You only need to get a referral from your GP, then your care will be taken over by the breast clinic. It seems silly to prejudice your outcome just because of this. Do please think seriously about this and phone your GP on Monday morning.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi

Thanks for your reply I'll ring GP tomorrow.

    Regards

  • I found a lump under my arm 4 days ago, I’d say it’s as big as a big pea? Doesn’t move around and only hurts if I’m prodding around at it, I also found one on my neck the day after I found the one underneath my armpit although this one is about half the size and no pain at all! I have eczema and have had a flare up so unsure if it could be an infection! I phone the doctors yesterday and they said wait 7-10 days to see if it goes down and I asked about a possible infection and he said if it’s viral then no anti-biotics will be needed but with a bacterial you most likely will but then never said what one it could be and if a needed the anti-biotics! I took another picture today and going by the picture it looks slightly bigger but I don’t know if it’s maybe in my head as I am worrying about it
  • Hi ive also found a lump recently under my armpit but feels the size of a fifty pence piece, ive also gone for mammogram as ive just turned 50years old and within 4 days of having the mammogram ive been sent a letter for further testing, alarm bells started ringing as they said upto 14 days before I will get mammogram results,so this Monday 4th January I shall be getting the lump under my armpit examined and biopsy taken as well as further mammogram and scans on breast. I can't lie and say I'm not worried but sometimes I feel like the lump has disappeared but when I feel again its back.Strange I know it sounds and wonder if I'm over thinking about the lump.I can't feel no lumps in breast but do have a slight swelling on my breast bone and its the same side as my armpit lump xx

  • Hey I have the same problem, I'm only 14 though, so I have this lump under my armpit which I can also move around, it just feels like a ball, I noticed this just about a year ago but I was in lockdown, I haven't went to the doctors because I haven't really had any problems and due to covid i couldn't get any appointments, it hasn't grew in size, but it is kinda big and visible but I've been feeling fine for a whole year, when I move my left arm where the lump is it kinda hurts but not that much, just feels sensitive and it's very rare a girl my age would get cancer, I've searched everywhere on google about this but it's just scaring me, I have no problems with it but I just wanna know if it is dangerous, I really don't wanna go to the doctors, idk if this lump is a big deal or just nothing to worryabout, can you give any tips please or do you know anything that would at least provide relief and ease my thoughts about this?

  • Hi loves I'm 16 and I've found a very painful red lump under my armpit about the size of a pea. Any idea what it is? Thanks

  • Hi hope you don't mind me replying. I had the doctor today, I have a hard lump in my right underarm, its unmovable and if am honest and really worried. I have to go back in 2 weeks and try antibiotics for one week. If the lump is still there I will get referred to the breast clinic. My anxiety is through the roof.
