Worried for results

Short story is after my initial biopsy I received a phone call saying my results were not conclusive so I would have to go in for another biopsy.

at my appointment on Wednesday they said my first biopsy came back as normal tissue but there's an area of concern on my ultrasound.

they took 4 core biopsys of the lump but have told me to expect a wait of at least 2 weeks for my results given the Coronavirus situation.

im worried sick having to wait this long and especially as I'm only 20 they were so dismissive when I first came in but now they wanted to do more biopsys because they saw something on the ultrasound. Is this common or does this mean I am likely to have breast cancer. I don't know if anyone else is in this situation especially with such a long wait

    Hi Zwx,

I am sorry to hear that you have had inconclusive results and, needed to have more core biopsies taken. This sounds as if your consultant is playing safe and ensuring that there is no cancer present. Waiting on results is always a worrying time and, even more so when you have to go through it all again.

Having to have further biopsies, because something has been seen on ultrasound does happen. Some people will still be clear whilst others may have cancer. You are young to be having this trouble and I do hope that you eventually get the all clear. Should the worst happen and, you receive a positive diagnosis, it is not the end of the world.

I had a wait for further tests to be done before I got a diagnosis. Unfortunately my diagnosis was positive. That was 10 years ago. I then had a second cancer the following year, but I am still here and living life to the best of my ability. Treatments have progressed so much in the past few years.

Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Dear Jolamine,

Thank you so much for your reply, it's reassuring to hear that a positive diagnosis is still curable.

Will let you know when I hear back from my results
