Blood when wiping

Hi all, i went to drs about a year and a half ago affer bowel habits changed to going more often. I presented other symptoms of ibs also. I had a load of blood and stool tests all ok. I finally got a ct colonoscopy last October and was told that's fine and been referred to a dietician which I'm still waiting on.

The worry i have is that I'm still getting blood when i wipe, it's never the first wipe though. I've just had quite a bit compared to normal and worrying is it possible the tests and ct scan didn't show something that's there?

I don't really get pain too much, and it's not too bad when it is there. Main symptom is going toilet 5 or so times a day if i don't take loperamide.

  • Hey, I’m in a similar situation to you, it’s just that I’ve been bleeding for several months now and I’ve not even had a camera test and can’t now cause of the virus :(

How long have you been bleeding for ? And may I ask why you didn’t have the normal camera colonoscopy and virtual one ? Maybe ask for a camera one as they see more.

  • hiya, i did have a long wait for the camera test and when my info pack arrived with the prep there was a note saying there was no pain killer available, and only option was nothing or sedation, i phoned up to ask when it would be available and they said it wouldn't be so I spoke to the consultant who put me on the list for ct scan which only had a few day wait list. I could ask for the camera test but the wait last time was about 6 months, and i'll be moving from the area i live in before six months from now.

The bleeding i don't remember how long to be honest, well over a year but its on and off. it's only been once that theres been blood in the toilet, the rest of the time it will be when wiping.

i have been back to the drs since and she prescribed me some cream but it stopped after that so i didn't bother picking it up from the chemist.

fingers crossed you don't have to wait long for the test to be rescheduled.

  • 6 month wait ? Omg. That is a ridiculously long. If you don’t mind me asking, do you live in the UK? I do hope they don’t say 6 month to me, I’ll go crazy.

  • I do, North Wales. I imagine if you live somewhere more connected/ built up though it would be done a lot quicker.

  • Hi Sabr, did you hear anything? I just came back to this post to check when I posted as I had the same issue again yesterday.

  • Hey [@tommyt4]‍ nope I’m afraid have not heard anything yet, but I hear they have started doing colonoscopys again.

  • If you've already seen a hospital consultant it may be worth phoning their secretary see if there is an update?
