Cant get a referral

Hi I saw my doctor in January for breast pain and he referred me to breast clinic.  Because of Corona virus I have been told I won’t be seen,  I first had symptoms last November when I found lump underneath right  breast which is only painful if pressed and now also have larger hard lump on top of same breast.  my mother died of breast cancer age 63 and I’m now 7I, I am really worried but can’t see how I am going to get this checked.

  • Hi. I’m in a similar position. I have had a positive fit test and have been referred for a urgent colonoscopy as the result is extremely high but with the coronavirus I have been told I could be waiting 12 weeks or more.  There is nothing we seem to be able to do. Even private hospitals are shutting down.

Its horrendous. I can’t relax. I work at the hospital myself and now I have to go to work next week and I’m aware that if I get coronavirus and then offered a colonoscopy I wouldn’t be able to go for the colonoscopy. My GP has said with all the stress (I have a headache 24/7 since my result) pain in my tummy and dihoreah but that’s been going on 2.5 years, that I can be signed on the sick but I feel that I will get called out for not going to work, and teased. No one knows about my test result and until I have a definitive result from a colonoscopy and know what I’m dealing with, that’s how I want it to remain. I don’t know what to do. My partner says I should stay at home and let the doctor sign me off on stress. My head is just constantly banging.

I have had lumps in my breast previously and they have been nothing serious but I know how you feel. You just don’t know what you are dealing with.

Please let me know how you get on.x

  • Thanks for the supportive reply. I just have no idea when I will get checked and the thought of going to a hospital at this time is also pretty scary too, so I think I’ll have to cross my fingers and hope for the best. Stress is such a horrible thing so I hope you can get answers soon. We all owe those of you working in hospitals so much. Take care keep safe.
