Is there anyone else who has had a womb biopsy because their endometrial lining is sitting around 20mm ?
Is there anyone else who has had a womb biopsy because their endometrial lining is sitting around 20mm ?
Hi Jaynie
I imagine your biopsy findings differ from mine if you have not needed treatment. (Mine was complex hyperplasia without atypia.)
I have also been advised that I will have two further biopsies at six month intervals but the risk of progression to cancer is really small, so I do feel reassured.
I'm glad to hear your symptoms resolved.
I'll let you know how I get on with plan B.
stay well
I have just had the same and waiting for biopsy results, had done on Thursday and am so worried,my lining measured 10mm she said double what it should be as post menopausal for approx 8 years.Had some bleeding so doctor referred me.I have been reading up on it I think most people do that when waiting for results, could be hormonal imbalance and was reading that polyps growing so appearance of lining thickening, not sure it's always the best thing to do looking up everything. But trying to keep myself occupied in the garden and revamping old hanging baskets anything to take you away from thinking about it.Hoping all good news comes soon X
I've was recently diagnosed with a 23mm womb lining, had a hysteroscopy where they removed multiple polyps and had a Mirena fitted at the same time. I've had a call from the hospital today calling me in for a face to face appointment with the gynae and I'm worrying myself stupid now. I'm 48 (just) and have had very heavy periods for around 4 years, but thought it was just one of those things.
Thank you for your reply - tomorrows appointment is only to assess the situation, I was told. Would have been good t have the biospy then and there, but it seems I first need to go in for a talk with the specialist.... Still very scared though! I just hope there is hope... But thanks for the tip regarding driving - I have two young kids at home, so my husband can not really come, but I will see if I can figure somethign out for when the biopsy is going to happen...
Thank you for that - something to hang my hopes on! I am perimenopausal and am trying to convince myself that the thick lining must be a results of hormonal imbalance and the fact that I skipped my last period (after a heavy 4 week bleed)... But it is hard to stop the worries - I have two young children at home and I really, really want to be there for them while they grow up. At least! I had a scan about a year ago due to heavy periods and I seem to remember them saying that my lining was thicker but it was nothing to worry about. Now I am not sure if that is a good or a bad sign... Maybe I will know more after tomorrow, although I think only a biopy will really tell and that of course means more waiting...
Praying that this is just a scare! Keep well and thank you for writing!
It is also my understanding that polyps can make the lining seem thicker. I had a lining of 9 mm and two polyps. No cancer and low risk of progression based on biopsy. I hope you have the same.
The doctor rang with my results, which I initially assumed was because it was bad news, but it was because she wanted to explain the treatment. The good thing was that it shaved some time off the wait for results as she hadn't written them up at that point.
fingers crossed for good and early results.
I had some symptoms for a long time that I thought were probably normally signs of perimenopause. I did the worrying thing while waiting too. It is hard not to. My results showed no cancer and am hoping for the same for you. The gynaecologist rang with results as she wanted to chat about the treatment. Could your doctor want to check your treatment is going okay? Might he or she want to check on the position of the coil?
how long did you bleed for before biopsy ? i'm going through a similar situation , mine is 17mm thick , and awaiting the outcome of my biopsy i'm. 54 years old and worried sick
