Womb biopsy

Is there anyone else who has had a womb biopsy because their endometrial lining is sitting around 20mm ?

  • Hi JaynieY,  yes I had a hysteroscopy (womb biopsy) Oct 2019.  I didnt have any anaesthetic and although it was a wee bit uncomfortable, it was fine and over fairly quickly.  I had various biopsies taken and couple polyps removed.  And I drove myself there and back.  I know its difficult but try not to worry.

  • I have had heavy bleeding for past year, after not have a period for 2 years, so I had a biopsy, it was very much like a smear but a little more uncomfortable, I got a phone calls a couple of weeks for me to go in the next day for results.

I need a hysterectomy because i have being diagnosed with womb cancer grade 2 endometrial adenocarcinoma, they cant do the hysterectomy as yet because of covid, so are using hormone therapy to buy time.

  • Hi Leilani123, how are you?  Sorry to hear of your diagnosis and having to wait for your hysterectomy.  I was diagnosed with stage 2 grade 3 womb cancer just before Christmas 2019 and had a worrying wait due to the festive holiday period for a date for my hysterectomy but I wasnt offered  hormone treatment.  Anyway, I am now further along my journey and am halfway through my radiotherapy treatments. I just take every day as it comes.  We can do this.  If you need any more info I am happy to chat.  Take care. x

  • Hi

I had a 22mm endometrium and I had started to bleed .I'm 10 years post menopause so you can image what a state I'd got myself into .
It really didn't look good . But it's all fine . The consultant phoned me around 14 days after my biopsy and said I had nothing to worry about . I asked him what it could have caused the bleeding & thickening and he said he had no explanation ! I'd been bleeding quite heavily prior  to the biopsy& that stopped straight after I'd had it .

I hope this post stops you worrying as much as I did .

  • Hi Lemonandlime

I've not been on here for a long time and checked in to see how you're doing . Good news I see . I'm so happy for you x

mid got myself into a state about my situation but was worrying unnecessarily. My consultant called and said that everything was  fine going from the biopsy result . He has no explanation as to why my lining was 22mm and why I was bleeding . The bleeding stopped straight after the biopsy which he's happy with . It was all so strange to be having a real period after 10-12 years . What was going on ?!
He told me that I'm to go straight back if I bleed again .

  • I'm doing ok, I think I'm only at stage 1 and that why they gave me the hormone therapy, I do not think they offer it if you are more advanced, I also have a complication I'm on blood thinners, so they cant do the hysterectomy until it safe to come off them, with that and covid they have said it too dangerous to do just now. I hope they do not take too long, they have not mentioned needing radiotherapy, I'm hoping I will not need it. How are you getting on with the radiotherapy?

  • Hi Leilani123,  nice to hear from you.  Yep, I though you must have been at a much earlier stage than me.  Lets hope you get your hysterectomy soon. My cancer had spread to the cervix hence the radiotherapy and I am also having brachytherapy after that.  The radiotherapy is fine, on my third week and no side effects as such, just a bit tired by the end of the week. x

  • Well I hope it all goes well for you, the brachtherapy does not sound great, I hope you do not get too many side effects from it, let me know how you get on, all the best and take care

  • Hi Jaynie

That is wonderful news about the biopsy.

I've had some treatment but couldn't tolerate it so I am going for a different option next week. Do you mind me asking, if you are having some treatment to reduce the lining?

    Take care

  • Hi Lemonandlime

it's great to catch up with you .
No , nothing . It's all very odd & still doesn't sit well with me .
Pleasd keep me posted about the new treatment you're having

    take care x
