I found a small lump in my breast early this year, GP couldn't feel anything abnormal so went back after a month and she could then feel it so was referred to the breast clinic. Had a mammogram (all clear) but could see a lump on ultrasound so did a biopsy. The doctor said it looked very benign and wasn't even sure whether to do a biopsy, but as I'm between 40-45 she decided to be on the safe side. They said they would send me the result by letter within a week or so. I'd waited two weeks so phoned my GP to see if they had the results and the receptionist said there was something on my file but she'd have to get a GP to call me back. I was terrified this meant they'd found something. Then another receptionist phoned and said they didn't have any info, she had phoned the breast clinic and they said I'd be getting a letter. I felt a bit like they had an answer and I was being fobbed off. I've just had a letter saying I have an appointment at the clinic on Thurdsay for the same kind of biopsy. I don't know why as I've already had one done - can they be inconclusive, or is this more likely my follow up with the doctor? Needless to say, I'm frightened of going to a hospital, never mind of finding out what they will say, given everything going on in the world.
