Waiting for ultrasound on collarbone

I went to the doctors over a week ago about a lump above my collarbone which has been there for about a month now as I was extremely tired and it was starting to bother me. My doctor arranged for a ultrasound on my collarbone and said they will take it from there and I need to wait for a letter for an appoiment and to keep a close eye on my symptoms and call ASAP if anything gets worse.

I was just wondering if anyone else has been for one and how long you waited for an appointment.

Many thanks x

  • Hi a123 and welcome to the forum.

The wait for tests, and then the results, can be challenging but hopefully some of our members will pop by soon to offer their support and share their experiences with you.

Fingers crossed it won't be long until that appointment letter comes through.

    Kind regards,

  • It will probably vary by region (and COVID19 now being a big issue) but I had an ultrasound in January and I got my letter about a week after seeing my GP.

It's a scary time, but remember that by getting it looked at you're doing the best thing for you.

For the ultrasound I'd suggest wearing a loose necked top so it's easier for them and also helps from getting the gel they use on your clothes. If you have long hair I'd suggest tying it up too.

Wishing you all the best :)
