A very warm welcome to our forum. I am glad to hear that your GP has already referred you to the breast clinic for further investigation.

Unfortunately, cancer is no respector of age, so it is possible that you have succumbed.  I am glad to hear that you are keeping positive. I found that the best way for me to cope at your stage was to expect the worst and hope for the best. I was one of the unlucky ones. I was first diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago and had a second bout 9 years ago.

The difference in diagnosis, treatment and after care from when my mum had it 10 years before my diagnosis, was huge. There was just no comparison between the care that she had and that which I have received.

You will find time drags while you are waiting for your appointment. Try to keep yourself busy to distract from the wait and, steer clear of the internet. I hope that all goes well for you and that nothing untoward is found. Pleas keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

Thank you so much for your reply Jolamine, this has been a very stressful time as I'm sure you understand.

I keep positive all day, then as soon as I shut my eyes my brain decideds to tell me everything bad it could be! 

Will of course keep you posted, was hoping it would disappear but sadly this is not the case. Hoping for the best outcome, preparing for the worst!

This is always a scary time, because there are so many unknowns. Believe it or not, you will feel better once you get a diagnosis and start to treat it if anything untoward is found.

You've not got long to wait fo your appointment now and, I'm sure that you'll feel  better once you get the results of any tests. I don't know how much you know about your first visit.  You are not likely to get a diagnosis straight away. You are likely to have an ultrasound and a biopsy, then you will have to wait for 1-2 weeks to get the results of these tests.

Night time is always when your imagination runs riot. We all tend to think the worst whilst waiting for a diagnosis. Fortunately, this seldom  turns out to be the case.

You have really put me at ease, thank you. 

I've spoken with the breast clinic who explained everything that will or could happen. This helped. 

Today I noticed my nipple has moved, pointing upwards almost so will definitely mention this. I also felt today that the lump appears much bigger than I thought, it seems to cover the whole underneath of my nipple area and is quite deep. The whole breast feels very different to the other! 

Still hoping for the best outcome and trying not to dwell on the negative.

I am in a similar situation. I've been referred to the breast clinic too. I have had an uncomfortable breast for a while and have now found a lump. I don't think it's only just appeared, I think I've only just managed to find it. I have been to the breast clinic before for cysts and abscesses but this doesn't feel the same. I'm so scared that I can't eat or sleep and am dry heaving. Im 34 and have two young children so I'm terrified. I also can't help thinking what an awful time for this to be happening (corona), not that any time would be a good time! x

I'm 41, I've also got my breast clinic appointment tomorrow morning. I found a lump 4 weeks ago then gp found another and a node in my armpit. My mind keeps swithering back and forwards between it being something sinister to just lumpy tissue or cysts. 

I've been told to go half an hour before my appointment for a mammogram, then consultant will do ultrasound and if needed biopsies. 

Will be thinking of you lovely, it's an anxious time. I just want to know now either way as whatecer the outcome i can having something tangible to wrap my head around instead of all my imaginings.

It really is a scary time, I've not slept for days and can barely eat! 

I can only hope that we get the all clear and all this worry has been for nothing. Tomorrow cant come quick enough.
