Husband waiting for results

Hi my husband had pet scan for lung cancer last tues 03/03/2020. Hospital phoned today to ask him to come on mon for review of scan. Is this normal or a bad sign, would thay have sent a letter if it was good news. I am terified thanks for any advice.

  • Hi, I would assume it is normal practice to ask to speak to you regarding the results from the scan. I was diagnosed with Lymphoma s few years ago and the diagnosis was given over the phone with a follow up appointment a couple of days later.

  • Thank you trying to stay calm but as you have experienced  it's very worrying hope you are well now I do feel better from your answer thank you again for taking the time to reply it is much appreciated

  • No worries. I have a bit of a scare at the moment which is being looked into. I’m hanging on in there and have faith that I will be looked  after and treated well- as I was last time.

  • thinking of you hopefully things will be fine good you have faith in your team

  • Hi, I know how horrible it is waiting for results. My mum was diagnosed with cancer and we are waiting on the results of her CT and MRI. Before even taking the scans we were asked to go back into hospital for the results - I think this is normal. If you have contact details of a McMillan nurse you could maybe contact them tomorrow for advice.

I tried to read so much into everything from what the radiographers said after taking the scans to waiting times for appointments. I don't think it's much use as everywhere and everyone is different. It's easier said than done but try to take your mind off it as much as possible.

It helps me to think that no matter what happens we will be given a plan of action.

  • Hi thanks for advice hope you mum is alright. I like you am trying to read so much in to everything but you are right and I hadn't thought about getting action plan i am still praying it's not cancer but that has helped thinking at least we will know where we go next thank you for taking the time to reply
