Hi everyone
I'm 36 years old and am currently trying to get a diagnosis. I apologise in advance for this long post..bear with me. I've been experiencing lots of symptoms for a while which I now know could be vena cava syndrome or the starting of it. Weeks ago I ended up at a&e multiple times with the same complaints
Shortness of breath especially when trying to breathe through mouth or talk. Feels like elephant on chest
Upper left chest pain and pressure behind the collarbone. Shoulder pain. Jaw, neck and shoulder muscles have tightened so much on left side its difficult to drop or relax shoulder
Severe pressure in head mostly when breathing through mouth, talking or have head at certain angle
Very pronounced veins all over body especially left neck and all over chest. Veins don't go down even when I'm upright. Tons of broken blood vessels in eyes too
Face and neck are fat despite being underweight at 7 stone
Constant face redness and chest and neck gets red all the time
I've had a wheeze when I lie on my left side for a few years which was always assumed to be allergy related as I'm allergic to dust, my dogs fur and pollen and I have a deviated septum/nasal issues which are always worse lying down. Also a cough that only starts up when there are more allergens around like during pollen seasons
They did an x ray in a &e which was ok but things are dramatically worse now. At the same time of all this is going on I had to have urgent upper gi endoscopy and bowel MRI because I was getting black stool but nothing showed up. The MRI caught my liver and kidneys so I know they are ok but feel like it's all chest upwards
I'm also having worsening neurological symptoms including bilateral facial weakness, eyelid drooping, weakness down one side which is now going onto the other side, dizziness and constant headache. My parents also said I have not been myself at all and been acting out of character.
I'm going to gp tomorrow to push for a CT. There is lung cancer on both sides of family and despite never smoking I've lived with 3 people that do all my life. I'm struggling to breathe on a daily basis and I feel like blood is always backing up in my head. If I have my neck at a certain angle it helps but the second its slightly compressed I'm in trouble. Has anyone experienced this? Also of note I've had a blood tests over the past 3 months and a few that were slightly high are seen in people with copd or lung/heart issues yet dr doesn't pick up on this!!
To anyone that made it through all that..thank you :)
