Brain tumour

Hi, back in September I was unwell with the flu, after it went I was having these terrible headaches and feeling tired all the time. I went for a ct scan, a week later in November. it came back showing something on the left side of the frontal lobe. I don't know no more than that. My doctor referred me to the neurologist. I have been told that my appointment is urgent but coz still take up to 20 weeks to be seen.
basically I'm worried sick as I have no idea how serious, if at all serious my situation is.
feel like people are playing a game with my life. As if it is serious then surely I need to get this sorted.
it's hard trying to keep a brave face for my family and the kids don't understand why mammy has no energy or needs time alone.  Just wish I could get some answers.

  • Hi,

Im only 18 and was having the same symptoms for years and was dismissed by doctors saying I was fine they reckon my brain tumour has been there about 6 years. I was diagnosed with what they thought was a cancerous lump on december 19th last year and had my operation on january 23rd this year. And it only took that long because my gp sent my referal as non urgent stupidly but one of the neurosurgeons luckily saw my referal so managed to get me in for surgery sooner. So for your case your operation may be sooner. For me my brain tumour is on my brain stem so the couldnt remove it all as I was losing function of my body during the op my consultant told me. But during the op they took a sample of the tumour and sent it of for testing and it was a ganglioglioma which make up 1% of tumours. Which im lucky as most brain stem tumours are high grade

For advice i would say do not worry as you dont know what the tumour is. For me im only 18 and being told you might have brain cancer was really hard but I was not worried as they werent 100% sure

  • Hi callum0721,

    Thanks for the reply

sorry to hear that you’ve had to deal with such a lot of worry at a young age. That couldn’t of been fun.

I have been told by the neurologist secretary that the consultant has looked at the scan and has put me on the urgent list. However, this is a 20 week list! I just can’t get my head around how they can say it’s urgent but I have to wait that long to be seen.

I know I shouldn’t worry it’s just so hard not to, I’m still working and trying to live Day to day like normal as I haven’t told anyone apart from family about my situation but it’s so hard sometimes.

Sorry for the pity party just fed up now
