HPV CERVICAL CANCER QUERY

Hi, does anyone know anything to help with this query.

I was very sexually active, with multiple partners in my teens and twentys

i smoked throughout my 20s and 30s

i lost my virginity at a young age.

i have a wart.

all of this suggests I would have had HPV frequently during periods of my life, but never previously tested.

at my recent smear I was HPV clear so no further analysis carried out, surely being HPV clear at one moment in time does not mean there are no issues.
I don't understand why ?

i have lumps on cervix so going for hysteroscopy, separate issue,

I really don't understand, I could have had HPV for 20 years,

anyone know anything?
thank you,

  • Hello MLM2727,

Your doctor seems to think there are no issues, so that's good to hear. HPV doesn't mean cancer so try not to worry and if any other concerns come up speak to your doctor.

    Hope the hysteroscopy goes ok,

  • My gynecologist told me there are so many different types of HPV and they only test for the most common ones that usually cause cancer. He also said the immune system takes care of most infections so you could have had HPV in the past but your body cleared it. It's a good sign you have come back clear. In most cases HPV doesn't progress to cancer but always good to be cautious
