Awaiting breast diagnosis currently pregnant

I'm just so worried.

I'm visited the doctor on Wednesday for a lump in my right breast my she referred me to breast clinic and I've today received my appointment which is next thursday.

I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant and already have 2 children aged 12 & 7.

I feel completely all over the place and sick with worry I just cant stop imagining the worse case scenario.

My reason for posting is I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what happens at the clinic and how long it takes to receive the results. I'm worried so much and the thought of the unknown is making it's so much worse.

    Hi, sorry you are in this situation, first of all please don't worry too much, I know it's easier said than done, I am only going on what happened to me, you will be examined by a doctor who may send you for a mammogram, once this is done they will have some information regarding the lump, they may do a biopsy under ultrasound which I'm afraid to say does hurt but you may not need this. If it turns out to be cancer they will look after you really well especially with you being pregnant. I was diagnosed last April, had a biopsy then a lumpectomy then 15 sessions of radiotherapy, I guess I'm a lot older than you, I was 55 when is was diagnosed. Please please don't stress about it until you know more, you are strong and will also find extra strength if it is cancer. I don't mean to sound flippant about it all I know it's scary as hell, I thought I would not cope but I did and you will, i was diagnosed in April, had my lumpectomy in May, had the results in June, started radiotherapy in July so that gives you a little info on time.     Please try not to worry lumps can be more then cancer. I went for breast pain to the clinic. I was all clear. But my experience was this. I checked in waited saw the Doctor he sent me for a mamagram. I was asked to sit an wait for further instructions. The doc said if it was ok I could go home. If not I'd have to have a biopsy. I didn't get to that. But some ladies told me they will tell you the same day what's happening (if its C) Please remember not all clinics are the same.

    I am sorry to hear that you are in this situation and worrying. I'm in a similar situation, with my breast clinic appointment on Monday. I was referred for a 2cm lump & itching. 
     

    the waiting is awful, but please try and keep busy. Worrying about the lump will not change the outcome. 
    Usually you will have a consultation with a breast surgeon, who will then decide if you need a scan and then possibly a biopsy. They will try and be as honest as possible, so try not to look into what they are saying! 
     

    fingers crossed that we all get good outcomes from the clinics, and if they are not good then we will cross that bridge when we come to it. 
    We will all get through this together.

    Thank you for your reply Catmum98. Sorry to hear you are goinf through this too.

    The waiting is just awful but like you say worrying isnt going to change the outcome. I think with the pregnancy my hormones are in over drive and making me more emotional.

     

    Im planning a busy weekend with my boys this weekend so hopefully they will keep me entertained and my mind off my pending appointment.
