Neck lump??

I found a solid lump on my throat back in june, in august I got a biopsy and the results came back as a "mystery" so this has to be repeated 6 months later and I have an appointment next week for my results, I am really nervous as I am convinced I have thyroid cancer. I have been quite fatigue and just dont feel myself, I have developed anxiety, really quite bad that its keeping me off my work. I have had a high temperature alot, and find it quite difficult to breath when lying down and have a really heavy chest all in all, with back and forth to my gp they have mentioned they need to check it's benign or not. I have asked to be referred for the lump to be removed sooner than later. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this? And has any info on what to expect at my appointment next week for my pre OP and results.

  • Hello Gemmal1801,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I can imagine it must be a particularly stressful time for you while waiting for these important results but it won't be long now until you find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment  but it will help you feel a little less anxious. It might also be worth talking to your doctor about your anxiety if you haven't done so already as I am sure your doctor will be able to give you some helpful suggestions to help you deal with this paralysing anxiety. The AnxietyUK website might also be a valuable resource for you.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
