Query over Liposarcoma/Lipoma

Hello everyone,

I have been on a long and difficult journey over the last couple of months dealing with a possible liposarcoma. I have been referred to the wrong people, turned up to appointments where they have the wrong notes etc. I have a lump on my side with suspicious characteristics (found in ultrasound and MRI) which is going to be removed and tested to determine whether it is benign or malignant. I have been referred to plastic surgery for the tumour removal but I don't know why it is a plastics referral and not surgical oncology? Does anyone have any experience with this who could shed some light for me?

I would really appreciate someone's take on this as I am somewhat at a loss.

Thanks.

  • Hi KGorbell,

Sorry to what what you're going through, I bet it is so frustrating, all the waiting and confusion.

from what I know, lumps and bumps are usually operated on by Plastic Surgery rather than oncology. Then they will tell you results and go from there.

have you tried ringing the secretary of your consultant? They might be able to help/get you another appointment to discuss things further

please let me know how you get on x
