CA125 blood test

Hi!!! I feel like I'm going out of my mind, and need someone to talk to who may understand. For the past 3 weeks I have been having  abdominal pain. I've been very bloated and my bowel movements have increased to around 3 stools Daily. ( unusual for me)  I have intense pain down my left lower side which sometimes disappeared with a bowel movement. My doctor ran bloods sent off a urine sample and a stool sample.

It came back I had a urine infection ?!!! But nothing in the stool. The only adnornal test that came back was a positive ANA test ( antibodies).

my doctor is great and booked me in for a pelvic scan and I also have an appointment on March 30th to do with my bowels.

The pelvic scan came back that both ovaries were * bulky*  but no signs off a cysts. My doctor now wants to run a CA125 test which I had today and now I'm in massive panic mode.

I googled ovarian cancer ( shame on me) but I could not believe how much I related to the symptoms. Recently I've gained weight I have a hairy chin. ( ffs) as well as the on going issues with my stomach. ( I don't have periods but this is another issue apparently ashermans due to my c section with my youngest child)

btw I'm 28 years old. I just need someone to say I'm not crazy please

  • Hello Rose-J

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with this health concern at the moment. It sounds as if your GP is pushing ahead with investigating the cause of this which is good.
At the moment you don't have the results of your CA125 test yet so please try not to panic. Searching Google won't give you definitive answers but it will lead to an increase in you worrying about things.

Whilst CA125 can sometimes be raised in women with ovarian cancer it can also be normal and equally a raised CA125 result can be caused by other conditions such as endometriosis, polycyctic ovaries and even pregnancy.

Hopefully over the course of the next few weeks the Dr's will find the cause of your symptoms and they will be able to work on a plan to improve things.
    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for replying, my CA125 results came back 10 which apparently is normal. My doctor didn’t say much else but I’m still continuing to experience symptoms. Shall I push on this ?! Thank you xx
