New member - Worried about ovarian cancer

I have been suffering with stomach bloating for a while now but put this down to the menopause.  In the past week I have had abdominal, back and pelvic pain and swollen stomach and so went to see the GP yesterday who has sent me for a CA125 blood test

I have googled information and am obviously worried about ovarian cancer - any advice on other people's experiences and symptoms please

  • Hi milly31

I have been having similar symptoms of abdominal pain which started on the left side but then moved to the right pelvic region, lower back pain, feeling bloated and the new symptom of abdominal cramping after intercourse. I also put symptoms down to the menapause apart from the new symptom of abdominal cramping which lasted for a few days along with blood spotting.

I saw my GP on Monday who after examination felt this could be the menapause but due to symptoms sent me for bloods of CA125 and referred me for an ultrasound scan. I had a call from the GP this morning to inform me that the blood results for CA125 were normal and that I would still need to go for the ultrasound. I am still very worried as I have read stories of women having a low CA125 but still having the diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

I am awaiting the ultrasound appointment but I am so worried as the abdominal cramping is something new for me.  I am looking on this forum for the same reason as you.

    Sorry not been much help.

  • Hi tmworrier,

Sorry to hear that you are suffering too.  I have also had my results back from the CA125 blood test and apparently these are normal.  I have not been referred for an ultrasound as yet.

The pain today is unbearable, it feels like my stomach is completely restricted, I feel bloated and the pain in my back has not eased.  I too am worried about the stories of low CA125 but still having the diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

I am seeing a different GP tomorrow as I just feel I need answers as to why I am feeling this way, so fingers crossed.

Hopefully other people will see our posts and be able to offer their advice?

I hope you get your scan through soon, keep in touch to let me know how you are getting on and thanks for messaging.
