Mum possibly has either lung cancer or TB

Mum, 72 went for her annual diabetic eye check where upon they found small micro embellisms (blood clots) behind her eye. She was routinely sent to a specialist stroke doctor for further tests to find out where the bleeds had stemmed from. She had ultrasounds of the neck and heart all clear so they sent her for a CT scan then asked her to go in again and have another CT then the rang her with an appointment to go and see another consultant. 3 days prior to her appt she got a letter from stroke consultant stating she had a mass on her lung that looked like malignant lung cancer!!! We went to see next consultant who confirmed that she had a large lesion on her left upper lobe that looked like cancer or tb. She has a pet scan tomorrow and a broncoscopy Thursday. We are both quite scared and just wondered if any one else has had cancer/Tb who can help us.

  • Hello Charlotte9037

I'm sorry to hear about the recent concerns raised following your Mum's CT scan. I'm sure that it's a very worrying time for you both,

Hopefully the PET scan and broncoscopy this week will bring some answers very shortly.
You're welcome to call our team of nurses if you would like to talk things through. They are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Let us know how Mum gets on when you're able to.

    Best wishes,
