Lump on front of my neck,

Hi everyone, I've been reading through theses posts and I'm 27 years old and I've had a small lump on my neck for a good few months been told it was a goitre nothing to worry about, no one your age will get cancer, so I didn't think anything more of it until a month ago when I noticed the lump had got a lot bigger, it's not hurting but it's solid and can not move it, it's starting to annoy me, sudden cough for the month, constant feeling of thlem stuck, gipping because I can't get it up but it's obviously not thlem, and constant feeling of after feel of reflux but not having reflux, so I went to my doctor and they have had a feel and sent me for an urgent referral, my appointment is Thursday 12th March, they said the lump has now gone to 4cm of what they can feel and that they think it's definitely in my thyroid? Has anyone had anything like mine and what's the results and how long did it take to diagnose or if it was nothing? Xx

  • I just made about about a lump I found in my neck, I posted it under the title 'Thyroid Lump Journey (www.cancerresearchuk.org/.../permalink) it might be useful for you. I am 24 so quite young too x

  • Thank you for replying and thank you for your link I've read through it, makes me feel a little bit more at ease, but I'm really worried as we have a high profile of cancer in the family, xx

  • I think you are bound to be worried regardless of family history. I am still worried waiting for results.

Hopefully it will be nothing, and even if it is something, from my perspective, it's seems very treatable. You are definitely in good hands!

  • Thank you! I hope all the best for you! As I know exactly how you're feeling but I haven't even been for my referral yet and my stomach is doing flips! xx

  • Hello,

I hope you don't mind me asking but just wondered how you got with your scan? Hope everything was Ok?

i found a lump too at the front of my neck exactly where my thyroid glad would be? The doc didn't seem to concerned and my bloods came back Ok but I've now started feeling a strange discomfort when I swallow food so she's arranging for a scan but said it could be quite a wait due to the pandemic

Anyways I've doctor googled (bad I know) and looked on here and find myself getting super worried.x

  • I had the scan and I had biopsies done, but due to covid i got pushed to the back of the line, they wanted to do more scans and more biopsies but unfortunately can't get me an appointment at the moment.. it's very hard to swallow at the moment and uncomfortable, they were querying taking the thyroid out but I'm not sure at the moment, I hope everything is okay, it's a very long process as I had these testa done in March! And still haven't received anything all I know is they wanr to investigate further, I wish you the best of luck, alway here to chat If you need ️

  • Ahh thanks so much for replying.

O what a worry for you! Hopefully it's nothing too serious for you and you get some answers soon

gosh what a wait for you! Surley if there was any sign of something serious in the scan etc they would have got you seen quicker

hopefully I'll get my scan through soon! I keep telling myself it's nothing but it's impossible not to worry once ive googled!

  • I did the same I googled it straight away unfortunately we can't help that haha!, but my Aunty had the same lump they removed it straight away, it's a horrible wait it really is! I hope it's nothing serious for you!.. but keep on them as much as you can, even if it's nothing I want mine out even if it does come back as nothing as it wakes me up at night when I press on it I wake up gipping and coughing it's horrible xx

  • Hi there, just wondering if you ever made heads or tails of your thyroid lump? I am a newbie here and also experiencing symptoms related to swallowing. Im in the U.S. and due to covid (i guess) getting to see doctors for tests and evaluation is very slow process. Nobody is in a hurry to figure things out except me! :(  Hope you are doing well and your thyroid troubles are behind you. xo, Sabrina
