Hi Ladies, i am new to this forum although i often find myself coming onto this page to search for advice whilst i wait for my results of my biopsy although i can't seem to find what i need to hear. I guess i should start from the beginning.
I found a lump in my breast around 6-8 months ago, could be longer! But i just completely dismissed it as i had been sent to the breast clinic about 4 years ago with a lump in the same breast and was told it was just hard tissue which is very common, had ultra sound and sent away. So when i felt this lump i was just adamant it was the same thing, until the last month and a half ago that breast became really itchy. Which is why i went to get it checked out.
I went to my doctor on the friday and come the tuesday i was being seen at the breast clinic, i was still sure they would do an ultrasound and send me away with good news.
Although this time everything seemed so much more serious!? I had an ultrasound, and the lady said she would more than likely need to do a biopsy but wanted to check with the surgeon, she printed off the scans and came back with the surgeon and said a biopsy was needed. The lump is right in the middle of my nipple and is 2.3cm. They done a core biopsy then and there and they took 3 samples.
Afterwards i saw the consultant who said they are pretty sure it is a fibroadenoma but they have to do the biopsy to be sure, told me i'd be called back into the clinic in 2 weeks for my results and that was that.
i have been given an appointment for 10th march to get my results.
my only concern is that when i google fibroadenoma, there is no symptoms of the breast becoming itchy. Am i overthinking this or has anyone had the same symptoms with a fibroadenoma or actually breast cancer? The waiting for results is slightly getting to me now, but keep telling myself if it was anything serious i'd be called in sooner? Or has anyone waited the full two weeks for results of biopsy and still been told it was cancer?
Sorry! So many questions!!
Thank you x
