Hi, i hope use all dont mind me posting here, not sure if i have cc but have the symptoms and feeel very alone. Brown discharge for 3 weeks then turned into light bleeding when wiping. Pap done 4 weeks ago, just wondering what symptoms u all had before diagnosis. Feeling so afraid and anxious.

Carla

Discharge started before pap. Also had abnormal smear 10 years ago i was 21 and thought nothig off it and never went back(what a fool) not looking for reassurance just ppls symptoms and if i should prepare for the worst.....

  • Best thing really is to make Dr appointment, tell them everything and go from there, easy to say but worrying only makes everything seem worse, believe me I have recently been there! I waited maybe 6 years, thinking I was starting peri menopause but turned out to be a large cyst. No cancer, I am glad I got it all sorted in the end, and no more worrying and  what ifs and googling symptoms ...... Get sorted and feel better.... Good luck

  • Hi [@Lillyjay]‍

im kind of in the same position as you now apart from I've had an urgent referral to a gynaecologist and I'm so scared. I was just wondering how you got on? I've have brown/bleeding. Hope you had positive news

  • Hi Casey,

Got my results nd everything was fine the discharge stopped and I'm feeling fine. There was no reason the doc found as why I had this brown discharge but assured me all was OK. Really hope u get the news u want, trust me I know how anxious the wait is but I was so sure I had cancer or something terrible and made myself sick with worry.

If u need anything at all just give me a shout .

    Carla xx

  • Hi, I was just reading your post and I noticed you said your issue was a large cust. Go you mind telling me what king of cyst it was and if it was internal. I currently think I have a Bartholin cyst under the skin near the opening of my vagina. On and off for over 3 months now I have been getting a brownish discharge with little twinges/dull aches in my pelvic area/lower abdominal area. I was just diagnosed with a Borderline HYPOTHYROIDISM as well. My last PAP SMEAR done in February was negative. Just so stressed about the dreaded C. You can read my story below. Thanks  for listening

I am pretty much in the same boat as you now, basically stressed and scared to death. I am 37 with 2 kids 5 and 8. I have ALWAYS had regular periods and only ever missed it once or twice in my life, probably in my teens which is not uncommon for the most part. More than 5 years ago I discovered a very tiny little lump near the opening of my vagina, kind of like a pimple under the skin. It was NEVER painful or anything. I never got it checked out which is totally stupid of me looking back now. However, over the past year I started experiencing a little discomfort during sex, otherwise it never hurts. Then approximately 8 months ago I missed my period for 3 months which was EXTREMELY UNUSUAL for me, so I went to the GP and they said maybe I am pregnant or it could be due to stress or other lifestyle changes which I totally doubted. I certainly was not pregnant as I had taken multiple pregnancy tests. The GP also examined my lump and said it was most likely a Bartholin cyst as it had been their for a while. Due to covid everything was postponed. My period did return after 3 months and then stopped again after 2 months. I went to hospital about 6/8 weeks ago when the initial spotting started and they tested for pregnancy which was negative and the doctor used a speculum to look at my cervix but said she could not see where spotting/bleeding was coming from. She said my cervix looked healthy but it wasn't really a thorough exam if you know what I mean. My spotting stopped but it started again, the same brownish sort of discharge for up to 2 weeks. I thought it was my period trying to start but it stopped again after 2 weeks. Then about 3 weeks ago the same spotting started and gradually it started to become heavier and heavier and it was mostly bright red, which alarmed me. I also had about 4 clots the size of a pound/50 pence. I have always had small clots/bad cramping with period since childhood. My spotting for 2 weeks/(period I think 5/6 days sine spotting started which is normal period for me) has now stopped but my MAJOR concern is the little twinges/ dull cramping/backache/leg pain I get now. Sometimes when I go to the bathroom now I see a little brown spotting or watery discharge but other times nothing. I will be going to see the Gynaecologist on Tuesday for exam/further tests. I should point out that I had a smear done in February of this year and it was normal. I have had 3 smears done since 2003 and they were all normal. I am totally freaking out right now. I also recently did bloods and I was told that the GP will call me next week Friday as I might have BORDERLINE HYPOTHYROIDISM, this can also affect my periods. I have loads of symptoms for this for more than 10 years. Please try not to stress out too much as this could all be nothing. So sorry to write such a long letter but I am trying to give as much details as possible. I just feel SO HELPLESS AND DEPRESSED at the moment. I am sure we will be OK.

  • Hi, it was a while ago now, last October that I was told I had a large cyst. Mine was internal, I think on my ovary and was so large it was pushing up into my abdomen and squashing everything inside.I looked like I was about to give birth. I thought it was menopause starting as I was right age. I had been having continuous bleeding for 6 years or so. It was last year I finally went to Dr to see what was happening.she took blood test and they rang me saying it contained high levels CA125, possible sign of cancer. So then I was referred to specialist and it all started to get sorted out. Had examination, they thought I was pregnant, then had ultrasound and they found large cyst.my left side from ovary right up to past my belly button. They said I should have hysterectomy and they would remove cyst.they did prepare me that it could be cancerous and that I may need treatment after my operation. I was very scared but quickly learnt that best to try relax and just go with the flow and trust the drs, they will sort things out. I had a 5 hour op. All successful. Total hysterectomy and removal of huge cyst. I went into hospital on a Tuesday morning weighing 16.5 stone. Left 5 days later weighing 13.5 stone !! .it was pre cancerous cyst and no further treatment was required. Now nearly a year later I am fine.

I know you have had examination and appointment to see gyny, that is good as they will get you sorted. I know it's easy for me to say now but honestly I was in such a state and scared but you need to try and stop thinking about what things could be, when you don't know. Wait for the drs to tell you what is what and deal with each step as it happens. Stop googling things! There are lots of symptoms out there but doesn't always mean you have something bad. Hope all goes ok Tuesday . Let us know how you get on. Lots people here will know what you are going through. Try to relax and deal with it as it happens and get support from family and friends and on here. Hope this helps a bit

  • Thanks for replying, really appreciate the support. Strangely enough, I also look like I am 6 plus months pregnant. I constantly feel bloated. My youngest child is almost 6. I am usually a size 8 before kids and even after kids I could still fit in my size 8 clothes. However, now I am a 10 to 12 now for the last 3 years or so with most of the weight around my abdomen. I will try to take it easy until Tuesday and I will post an update soon.

    Thanks
