Hi all, my first post here I'm going to try & keep it as short as poss but apologies if I waffle.
so this all started around 6 weeks ago with a cough, which may I add I still have. After coughing lots I started to develop pain in my lower left pelvic region. At first was just a sharp stabbing burning type pain if I coughed whilst standing (I'm a hairdresser so this is most of the day) it seemed to come and go. I noticed around 2 weeks later this pain in my side was getting worse & wasn't just there when coughing.
fast forward to last week when the pain got so bad I went to a&e. They just did some regular bloods which came back normal, urine sample has traces of blood, they sent me home with the advise to visit GP. I did this on Monday, she was very thorough tested urine again which this time was clear. She pressed all around my painful area & I nearly went through the ceiling! So painful & tender. I've had a cyst on my ovary before when I was 17 (I'm 40 in 2 weeks) it felt much worse than before. She has ordered some bloods....CA125, CRP, CEA and another abbreviated one beginning with E. she asked about any history of cancer in the family which I told her I lost my very dear brother on his 26th Birthday in 2003 to secondary liver cancer....unknown primary but seemed to stem from bowel from his symptoms, from diagnosis to when we lost him was just 19 weeks :(
she referred me for a scan but said could take 6 weeks. (Also had a referral to breast clinic after finding a lump in my breast so I asked her just to check & see what she thought, she could feel it too so I've gotto get that checked out also! )
each day I feel I'm getting worse, I've got pains in my back now too, yesterday my tummy bloated out so much friends & family thought I needed to go back to a&e, I did but again they did routine bloods which came back normal so sent home again & told to wait for scan.
luckily my scan appointment has come through & it's for Monday. I was expecting a much longer wait. My tummy looks swollen more so on left side, especially if I breath in....the right side goes in but left side doesn't!
the doctor at a&e said she's sure it's not a cyst because she would have felt it.....is this correct?
part of me has always wondered about my brother passing away so young whether there was anything genetic going on, I have never had screening and I guess I'm naturally worried because although ovarian cancer is rare in under 50's....so is liver cancer in a 25 year old but it happened!
I guess I'm just trying to find any similar stories to mine, persistent cough, bloating, back pain, lower left abdo pain, my periods have shortened in the last 3 cycles to 23-24 days instead of 28-31. Oh and constipation. Which I thought was the initial root cause of the pain, took lactulose which helped but my bowels are definitely not right. Urine urgency is mild but noticeable.
did you have normal routine blood results before diagnosis? I.e full blood count, liver profile, etc or are they usually abnormal?
im slightly worried that the scan appointment has come through so quickly it makes me wonder if the GP pushed it through as urgent, but relieved at the same time I haven't got long to wait!
Thankyou for taking the time to read if you've got this far!!
