Found a lump

Hi I'm 24 and I found a lump in my breast and i noticed two months ago but it didn't hurt and I just thought it was just what happens but now it's still there and it's painful and now there's a lump in the other breast aswell and I've read up on the symptoms so I went to the doctor and they told me to wait two weeks and come back. I've so scared I've mentioned to my parents and unfortunately they don't want to know so I am trying to figure it out alone and I have a 4 year old son I'm just so terrified please can some reply

  • Hi Jess

It would be rare at your age if you did have cancer and the fact yout GP sent you away shows that they think this is hormonal/cysts rather than anything suspicious. Sorry your parents weren't supportive but if I were your mum I would be advising you not to worry and see what the next couple of weeks bring. x

  • Hi I am awaiting an appointment at a breast clinic because of my age I've been told not to worry but of course we will that's human nature.  I also have a son at home slightly older.  If you're really still concerned make another appointment to see gp they can always refer you if you can't get the answers you're seeking.

Good luck with the outcome - I don't get on well with my parents and it can feel quite lonely.  This group is so good I'm glad I found it.

  • [@JessK]‍ I found a lump 2 days ago, it is the most terrifying thing I have ever experienced. You grow up as a girl being told check yourself regularily and to be aware of the importance of going to the doctor if you find anything.

I am 46 years old and my daughters are older, but wow! the fears still now for them are unbelievable.

Go back to your GP, insist that you see a specialist. It probably is a cyst ot something similar but you need to know.

    Good luck :)

  • [@Macgyver]‍ Good luck with your appointment, I hope you have support as you mention you don't get on well with your parents!!

  • Hello for anyone that needs some positive vibes.

Turns out my lump was a sebaceous cyst.  I am one of the lucky ones this time and very happy.  Given me a kick up the backside to lose some weight and look at life differently!

I hope others get some positive news whatever stage you are on your journey.

Love and virtual hugs to anyone reading.
