I also have been to gp today and have an appointment Monday for mamagram.  I'm not sure what tests have to be done either but told they can do them all there and then.  I hate needles! 

Just thinking of you and feeling probably as terrified as you.  Do friend me if you want to talk.  I have no friends yet as joined yesterday and not sure how all this works yet.  

Found mine last night! Docs this AM and being seen next Thursday

You're very strong to stay positive.  I've been in tears most of the day.  I don't know how I got through work. 

I am in my late 30s with one young child at home.  This is why I went to gp and get appointment to live for him.  After this I am determined to lose weight and really take a good look at life.  

Same for you, let me know what's said.  I'll be thinking of you tonight as I try to get some sleep.  I was truly hoping gp would say rash or spot or something.  Think I'm in denial and shock to be honest.  Thank goodness for this site so it's not quite so lonely.

my mind off it!

You will both get on fine at the breast clinic. I don't know your ages. Mammograms are not usually given to young people, as the scan is not so clear. The consultant will discuss your symptoms and then examine your breasts. The main 3 tests carried out on a first visit are mammogram and/or ultrasound and biopsy. There is then usually a wait of 1-2 weeks before you get the results of these tests. Sometimes other tests are needed at a later date.

This means more waiting I'm afraid and it is always a worrying time. The best advice is to keep yourself busy to distract yourself from the wait. This doesn't have to be all work. You can do something enjoyable too. Steer away from Google, as it will do you no favours.

Thanks for your reply. My tests are tomorrow (5th March)

I am 43 so I will defo be mammogram but if they see its not a lump to be of concern will they do any others?

Or is it matter of course they do them all?

I am preapring myself that it will be all. Just glad i have my family coming with me

Hi Gxrbabe,

Sometimes a consultant will decide that there is no need for any tests following a physical examination. Sometimes they don't need to do all the tests and sometimes they need to do extra tests. In most cases, all three tests are carried out, but they are all quite doable. You will usually have 1-2 weeks wait for the results of these tests. It is always a good idea to have someone with you when you go for your results.

I'm in the same boat! Been to GP yesterday and been told I need a referral for a breast lump. 
 

I know that if it is a one-stop clinic, then you will first see the breast consultant, more than likely you'll then either have a mammogram and ultrasound or just one of those. A lot of the time they will also take a biopsy just to make sure and somsrtimes this is done a few days later or sometimes it is done on the day.

Ok I am home from the tests 

I had mammogram, ultrasound and he said I have a Fibroadenoma and several cysts. He did a biopsy of the fibro just to be certain which I should get the results next week.
 

I am relieved and I can chill more!
