Scared it’s ovarian cancer

I recently been experiencing pain in the pelvis area, bleeding mid cycle and some bloating. I went to the doctor who took blood and then informed me that my CA125 levels are above normal at 54. I'm now waiting for a scan next week and fearing the worst as currently my sister is going through breast cancer.
what is the range of CA125? Is mine really high how indicative is it of ovarian cancer?

  • Hi, i had the same my levels two years ago were 54 and was sent for pelvic ultrsound and it came back all clear and nothing was mentioned again.  Returned to the doctors a couple of wees ago for bloating after i eat and when i mean bloating i look 6 months or more pregnant sometimes, and they were testing me for food intolerances and repeating my CA-125 test, this came back at 60 so was sent for a pelvic ultrasound and Transvaginal ultrasound and the doctors called me yesterday to say i have a cyst on each ovary with one being bigger than the other so had to go for another repear CA-125 blood test this morning.  From what i remember i think the normal range is less than 46.  Apparently CA-125 is only a cancer marker and not reliable as a diagnosis for ovarian cancer, if the levels have risen after an ultrasound they send you on for a MRI i believe unless the scan shows a solid mass, but i am not 100% but that is what i have been told so far, so unsure what mine is as i didnt really ask as i was quite shocked when they called me, so just have to wait for the repeat results early next week now.

Everyone tells me to try not to worry, which is easier said than done, but do try not to worry too much until you know more.
