I've had bleeding on/off since November 2019 with episodes of flooding. I only had two periods in the year leading up to this. In the summer I had odd bits of spotting but assumed it was perimenopausal. The bleeding has been controlled with norethisterone but not stopped it completely.
My GP put it all down to perimenopause as FSH 15. I kept pushing for a referral on a two week wait but I had no red flag symptoms despite telling her this not normal for me. Had abdominal ultrasound and all okay. I managed to get a NHS referral for end of January 20 to see gynae. He again said sounds like perimenopause and offered coil/hysteroscopy or ablation/hysteroscopy. I chose the latter.
I've been for the procedure this week and he didn't do the ablation. He said my cervix looked hardened, abnormal and high up so took biopsy. He thinks this is where the bleeding is coming from. He's said he's sent the tissue for urgent tests and will be back in a week. I am petrified!!!!
I stopped taking the norethisterone the morning of the procedure and now I'm bleeding heavily again. I'm not sure if it's because of the procedure I'm bleeding or the lack of norethisterone. He said just take tranexamic acid as norethisterone is for uterine bleeding.
I am so confused whether I have two things going on - period but also bleeding from cervix? If norethisterone only controls uterine bleeding how has it calmed down the cervix bleeding in the past month? Nobody seems to have any answers and I can't find any details other than everything leads to cervical cancer.
