Unusual bleeding and bowel changes

Hi, I’ve been having rather unusual symptoms for a while now. Mostly frequently changing bowels (loose one week/constipated the next). I’ve had pain in my abdomen and bloating since July but it’s never been bad enough to worry about as I’ve got IBS. Recently started vomiting and the pain keeps me up at night. Dr has sent for scans which I’m waiting for results of. I’m anxious as since yesterday I have passed watery stools mostly consisting of blood, mucus and what looks like little red lumps in stools.....should I go back sooner or wait for my scan results? My blood tests were relatively normal but suggested an infection. I have history of bowel cancer in the family but also of UC. TIA x

  • Hi MummyB93,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about the issues you've been experiencing recently.

In terms of finding out what's going on, it sounds like the best thing to do is to wait for the scan results. However if you feel you need some pain relief or are concerned things have got worse, you could always revisit the doctor. But hopefully it's not too much longer to wait for you to get the results and find out more.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
