Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me and can put my mind at rest.
I've a complicated medical history since last Oct. long story but 3 weeks after starting oral HRT I suffered with thrombosis (DVT & PE) so I'm completing a 6 month course of anticoagulants after immediately stopping the HRT.
I have history of heavy irregular monthly week long bleeds. But my 1st cycle after starting my medication for thrombosis lasted 4 weeks with haemorrhaging. This put me back in A&E resulting in a referral to gynae. After Various scans and a very painful hysteroscopy I was diagnosed with a thick endometrial lining & polyps.
Polyps were removed during a second hysteroscopy under GA last Thursday.
However during the procedure my consultant diagnosed a large cervical ectropian and I'm assuming a biopsy was taken as my discharge notes mention I will be contacted with histology results. I also had a letter to hand to my GP.
unfortunately I was too out of it to understand what she was saying to me whilst I was in recovery. And she had to move on to the next patient for surgery so didn't come back to me. All I can recall is her saying that the polyp removal went well & she'll write to me.
I haven't been able to resist google search, my understanding re ectropians is they aren't common in women of my age, more common in younger women using contraception. I haven't used hormonal contraceptives for many many years.
Also ectropians and cervical cancel present/look the same and diagnosis can only be confirmed with the histology results.
So now I'm waiting and trying not to worry.
Has anyone of my age experienced anything similar?
Thank you so much in advance xx
