Possible infection after LLETZ procedure

I went for LLETZ on friday (14th feb) and currently not feeling well, also discharge is a very unpleasant smell. Ive phoned for a drs appointment but wondering if anyone can tell me what the drs appointment will consist of will he need to examine me or will he just ask the symptoms and prescribe antibiotics if he feels its an infection?

  • Hiya I had lletz on 11th iv had no bleeding just a discharge which smells like veggies !!! .. if you feel unwell fever or high temp I'd ring your GP and explain what's happened and they will give u antibiotics ..

without having to go to see him good luck Hun hopefully it's just a blip hope you feel better soon xx

  • Hiya

I had a lletz procedure and got an infection, definitely worth getting it checked over with the doctors and if it is infection take the full course of ABs and rest. I didn't give myself enough time to rest and recover (probably a day or two!) and ended up on ABs for quite a while after with various infections.

Look after yourself and hope you feel better soon. X

  • Thanks lovely!

Yes i was the same literally half an hour after my proceedure i was sorting through wet laundry climbing on the kids bunks to make them just really did not rest at all.. I saw the gp and he gave me a really strong antibiotic for a week, so hoping to be on the mend soon ive also started bleeding v/heavily so trying to rest as much as is possible giving its the half term and kids are off xxx

  • Thanks hun... I saw him told him my symptoms and with no hesitation he gave me some strobg antibiotics xxxx

  • Hey, I had the same done on Thursday last week and I have developed the same symptoms as you, also have had abdominal pain since the procedure. I have spoken to the doctor today but she wasn't very helpful at all and has just prescribed me antibiotics without going through anything with me. Which antibiotics did your doctor prescribe you? Are you better now you've taken them? Thanks in advance. I'm only young and it's all very worrying!

  • Hi Jade,

I noticed you were trying to reach out to ColeKayLe so I just wanted to let you know there's a chance you may not hear back from them as it's been over a year since they made this post and were last on the forum.

I do hope they come back to answer your questions but if they don't it may be worth starting your own discussion. You can find out how to do this just here.

I hope this helps and the pains you're experiencing start to lessen soon.

    All the best,
