OMG Deb that sounds awful what a traumatic experience. You can't quite believe that you are still waiting as it seems urgent. I'm in a similar position although mine was a routine endoscopy I suspected the would find something, they did but they couldn't say what it was.  

I emailed the secretary after lunch said is there any news and she basically said "yes.  Ms Surgeon will decide the next step" - that was all!! So I emailed back and said "oh I'd hoped to hear what the result was who can tell me that?"

No reply.

I think I had been calm for so long, mine was on 6th Feb, I was doing well until I asked - is that how you feel?! Can you call the secretary tomorrow and ask for a telephone appointment with your consultant, say you are very worried? That's more or less my plan.

Thank you for your reply.  I am going to call the secretary and ask them for results as it seems an age everything seemed urgent then nothing.  I wonder what these people  think we are going through.  I was unsure of what we could actually demand.  Its our bodies and our lives they must have to give you the results when you know they are in????  I am actually quite calm most of the time then all of a sudden it hits you and i start panicking.  I am sure I will not be sleeping tonight so yes i feel the same as you.  Its nice to know you are not the only one panicking especially as we are always being told that cancer will hit 1 in 2 people :confused:

First thing tomorrow I will call and will even pop to the hospital if they will see me.  I will keep you posted what they say.  Lets hope we both get good results.

I'd emailed the secretary and she said they are looking into it and I just lost it and emailed back and said that's very kind but I need to know if this is cancer or not. That was earlier on Wednesday and I assumed I was being ignored but then I just found a reply in my e-mail junk box from my surgeon!!

She said they don't think its cancer but she needs to get another consultant to look at the results and then I might need an endoscopic ultrasound (although previously they mentioned a special MRI of the small intestines which I think you need dye for etc).  So I am not entirely convinced but at least they are on to it.  I just have to keep chasing.

Its now day 3 so results were in on Monday i have called everyday.  There is always an excuse the contultant is doing rounds, the consultant isnt in today and the consultant has private clinic????  so now 3 more sleepless nights and worry.  

I cannot believe that someone cannot call or email me the results i am assuming that no news is good news or they would have bought me in but............ why not just tell me everything is ok?   

I personally think the hospital are being very very cruel and after i get  my results whenever that will be.  I will send a letter of complaint so that the next person is not hanging around like i have had to.

So still not results for me but as soon as i hear i will let you know either way.

Yet another phone call to the hospital is on the cards.  All of this over gallstones and they found something else.

hi hun I'm so sorry your having to wait for your results but I just wanted to let you know that all results either good or bad have to go through a mdt meeting so that all consultants can agree on the results therefore they dont usually give out results over the phone, I would suggest you call and ask wethor they have had a mdt yet and if they have then ask for an apointment for your results or failing that you could also go to your gp normally results are faced over to them before you get them again this may not of been done simply because your results may not of been read yet x

i dont have any idea how all of this works but have written down what you you said and will ask about the MDT meeting.  I was told the results were in on Monday and been fobbed off every day since.  No one has explained anything to me thats why i am getting myself in a state.  I went for a scan for gallstones and came out with something completely different.  They found a mass/enlarged spleen and enlarges lymph nodes???  i was called  in for a biopsy and didnt know why what just given a load of medical jargon which of course i looked up.  3 weeks have now passed and no one is telling me a thing apart from the results coming back on Monday.  I have to assume that no news is good news but just wish someone would tell me what is going on :-(.  I have to call at 1pm today when the consultant is back in the office in the hope that someone explains to me what is happening.  i am just very confused and very frightened about the whole thing.  Rant is now over lol :-) xxx

I now have an update it seems i have low grade lymphoma.  The results have come back inconclusive on both lymph nodes and tumor.  The consultant has said this is good as it will be low grade.  I have to go in again next week to have a colonoscopy as the tumor is large and comes out of the pelvic area and is now next to my rectum.  They need to so some more test on the lymph nodes that they already have but he is pretty sure that this is what i have (not sure how he knows but he is the expert).  Once i have had the colonoscopy they will then discuss my case at the next MDT meeting and i will be called in regarding treatment.  So now another waiting game but i feel more confiendent as he was very sure that the lymphoma was going to be low grade.  thanks guys for keeping my spirits up, i feel a lot more confident now.

Hey sorry know this is an old post, just after some advice  I had an urgent week week referral for mri on my head had the mri done 2 weeks ago now just spoke to reception and my report was writing up Saturday she said she doesn't think it's going to be passed to the mdt. Would you say that means they haven't found anything?

hi so sorry your having to go through this, it's strange that they arent having a mdt meeting even good results are discussed so that all consultants and nurses are all in agreement about your results I would ring back in a day or so just to confirm and ask could you have your results over the phone just to put your mind at ease xx
