Waiting for mri results

had a ct colonography in december and a lump the size of a golf ball was seen around my hip joint next to gowel but not in the bowel. In soft tissues I assume. Seen by a consultant whi specialises in sarcomas and he said he doesnt think its cancer but may be inflammation due to my hip resurfacing 12 years ago. Sent me for MRI a week ago. Still not had any results from that so as time going on getting more worried. Or is no news good news?

they said they would ring me after they have  looked at scan,  so surely they would have looked since last sunday?

i can feel a lump in my groin as well

  • Hi Nana26,

It usually takes around 1-2 weeks to get results from an MRI scan, so you should hear back soon.

It's best to try not to assume anything one way or the other with the results - the waiting time often depends on the workload of the hospital.

Try to keep yourself busy and distracted if you can, until you find out more - people often say this helps.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hello Ben,

Thank you for the infomation you provided it was a great comfort knowing that getting an MRI result is possible within a two week time span.

unfortunately this has not been the case for me as it will be 3 weeks tomorrow since my MRI due to precancer cells being found in my uterus after a biopsy following a polyp removal and premenopausal bleed just after Christmas.

all my appointments were arranged via phone calls once my GP contacted the consultant and got the ball rolling my care throughout has also been exceptional.
But today I received a letter in the post, explaining the meeting I had with the registrar who told me that precancer had been found and that an mri would be required so to say the hospital postal service is a little behind is putting it mildly. The letter ends by saying that there is a likely hood of 30% spread this i was NOT told when I was given the news about precancer cells.Instead I was rushed around from room to room whilst the staff took premedical history prior to my hysterectomy.

my husband and I have tried everything to obtain my mri results phoning the consultant secretary, the GP,the MRI clinic even leaving a message on the hospital web site and with 'PALS'. On Friday we got a message saying a letter had been drafted but not sent......it arrived today and was not an mri result letter but a copy of one already sent to my G.P.

I need my results so I can put my mind at rest, but nothing seems to be happening one minute I am taking the view that no news is good news then doubting myself.will I have to see a consultant to get my results?

i am scared worried and petrified now my hysterectomy is booked in 2 March I am terrier that I will know my mri results the night before my operation. What else can I do? Please help
