Hi all I'm a newbie have read some of your posts and can I just say your all insperationable well ill give you a brief history I found a lump just over 2 years ago and it turned out to be a cyst then a few months later I found another lump which was a fibro adenoma I had that removed and they said I have pockets of cysts so I've lived with my breasts being sore then fast forward to 2 months ago and I got a white spot on my nipple I didn't think much of it until I started getting pain and not feeling well my doctor said it was a abscess and gave me a ten day course of antibiotics and told me to go back when I had finished them which I did because I was still in a lot of pain which is under my arm pit and going into my breast it's like a burning pain my nipple has changed and my breast has gone bigger and sometimes gets itchy when the doctor examined me he said it wasn't the abscess and has reffered me to the clinic Im really anxious and keep thinking it could be ibc  Thank you for reading

  • Hi Wolvesgirl,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your worries and what you've been through recently. I can imagine it is unsettling to be referred again although at least it means you'll get some answers soon.

It sounds like you have experience with being referred to the clinic so you perhaps know what to expect. In the meantime, try to keep yourself busy and distracted - as some people say this helps to keep your mind off things.

Do of course use this forum as much as you'd like for any support too.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

    Hi Wolvesgirl,

Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about all of these ongoing cysts and hope that you get some answers when you visit the breast clinic. You should get an appointment within 2 weeks. I'm sure that you have already been told that pain is not normally a sign of breast cancer, so here is hoping that this is the case.

With the pain and changes you've been experiencing, you are as well to get this checked out. From someone who hads had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 10 years, I can assure you that the way you are feeling emotionally is perfectly normal. Most of us also tend to persuade ourselves that we have breast cancer or that it's a lot worse than it turns out to be. Fortunately, this seldom proves to be the case. The odds are still in your favour, as only 1 person in 8 who attend the breast clinic will be diagnosed with cancer.

Here's hoping that you'll be one of the lucky ones!

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Ben I will I appreciate your kind response

  • Thanks jolamine I had to go back to the doctors yesterday as they had messed up my referral so the doctor had to do it again he examined me and has put me on another course of antibiotics I just feel really poorly at the moment I'm hoping this lot of antibiotics does the trick and that there's nothing else sinister going on with my breast and thanks for replying to me I have read some of your posts and you seem an amazing person hope everything is going okay for you at the moment x

    Hi Wolvesgirl,

Remember that antibiotics can knock the stuffing out of you too, so this may be partly why you feel so awful. I hope that you have sorted out your referral now and, that it doesn't take long to get your appointment. I am hoping and  praying that nothing sinister is found. Don't forget to let us know.

I'm chuntering on at the moment thanks, but that is how I like it - not too much excitement!

    Kind regards,

    Kolamine xx
