Understanding lumps!

So I found three small lumps at the side of my right breast up towards my armpit. I went to Gp and was referred to breast clinic. Dr felt left breast, then right, said he could feel a lump. But not where I felt lump. He never actually felt my little side lumps. I was sent straight for mammogram.
im awaiting results which is up to 3 weeks.
my concern is that my little side lumps wouldn't have made it into the machine! Are they just not connected?
I didn't feel the breast lump the dr found.
I'm only 39 with no family history.
just wondering if anyone else had experienced the little lumps?

  • Hello LucyKP and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently needed a referral to breast clinic. I'm unsure what the little lumps are that you've described. It may be that they are lymph nodes and may or may not be connected to the lump that the Dr felt.

It's normal to be worried whilst waiting for results but hopefully you won't have to wait too long. You can ask about the smaller lumps when you go for your results appointment.

If you'd like to talk to one of our nurses for some advice and support then do give them a call. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
