Tumour found on my kidney

I've recently been told I have a 12cm tumour on my left kidney, it was found by chance during an ultrasound I attended for my sickness and indigestion. I was referred up the corridor for a CT scan there and then, and my doctor rang me that evening to say I was being referred.

The scan show that this tumour hasn't spread anywhere else and I will just need to have the kidney taken out.

As a 33-year old, single parent, the prospect of surgery is worrying me more than the possibility of this being cancer. But with this all happening within the past 2 weeks, I just wanted to write a message really to see if there is anyone else with any similarities or experience.

thank you
