Lump inside anus, bleeding, mucous.... worried

Hello,

Just looking for some advice / encouragement really. Around 6-7 months ago I had some quite bad anal bleeding which was diagnosed as from a fissure, I wasn't totally convinced at the time because for me this didn't explain the "clot" texture to some of the blood, along with mucous.

Fast forward to now and I'm still passing bloody mucous, with odd shaped (thin) stools, bloody stools, all sorts of mixed bowel movements. Finally, the doctor (different one) found a lump up inside my anus today and referred me to the surgeons presumably for a camera and further testing.

Had anyone experienced similar? Don't worry about scaring me. Whatever it is, I can't change it.

Thanks,

Jenna.

  • Hi

My friend has ulcerative colitis and sounds a lot like the symptoms you've been having! She had to have quite a lot of tests to determine that it was ulcerative colitis. Do you have any stomach discomfort or is it just the stools you're noticing?

  • Thanks for replying :)

No I don't have any pain! Ulcerative Colitis wouldn't be ideal but better than what im convincing myself it is!

  • Definitely! We always fear the worst in these situations! But the likelihood always tends to be something less sinister!
please keep me updated and it's good that you're getting it seen too x

  • I always see these posts and get frustrated when people don't put an update on afterwards as I know when reading people have similar symptoms, then find out it's nothing to worry about, it can be re-assuring! Well i'm here and alive and kicking, I had a bad case of internal hemmerhoids (lovely!) and due to COVID19 the treatment was delayed so much that they now seem to have healed themselves (double bonus!) so try not to worry. I had massively convinced myself of something terrible, which is easy to do when you're bleeding from places you shouldn't. Keep calm, get a proper diagnosis and don't stop until you're happy.
