Swollen lymph nodes

New here and just wondering if i should follow this up?

I'm 23 and I found a lump in my neck 2 weeks ago. Came out of no where. No illness or cold ect...

Had unexplained fatigue for months, doctor did blood tests but couldn't put finger on why- as all bloods came back ok.

I went to the doctors today as lump has grow. Doctor measured it and its 3cm. Thinks it is lymph node. I also have 1 just behind my ear, about the side of a pea. I also have 2 lumps at the back of my head and a red patch. Last night my skin got very itchy all over my scalp. Lumps are only tender when pressed or touched. 

My GP spent 3 minutes talking and said it is probably nothing. If still there in 5 more weeks i should come back. I find 5 weeks a but much seeing as I've already had the problem for 2 weeks?

I felt like i left with no reassurance and just confusion. Should i get a second opinion or just wait the 5 weeks? 

I have a family history of different kind of cancer so i am just worried after discovering the swollen lymph nodes...

    Hi @Rach - I'd go back and say you wanted to ask your GP to reconsider.  Did they not offer any blood tests? I did ask my GP is she would look at the case again, she eventually agreed to refer me for tests and I thanked her for listening to me.  I was amazed as usually she'd be the one sayin oh leave it 6 weeks and see ...!! They call that benign neglect!

    I have a similar situation! I've noticed several lymph nodes in my throat round the front and back swollen aswell as a little ball which I don't think is a node. My left side particularly feels so swollen compared to the right side and it lasted throughout December till now and there are now more. My doctors gave me antibiotics as my left tonsil has white spots but now it's tonsil stones apparently and blood tests were fine and then referred for an ultrasound (although they sent it to the wrong place so it's been delayed and is now on Wednesday) since I have noticed armpit pain and a lump or two in my left collarbone which google basically says is bad bad bad and I'm terrified. However all your nodes in the neck from all the research I've done (I'm obvs just googling not a medic professional lol) seems to be more positive! Likely an infection you didn't realise you had but of course getting check is best! 
     

    im 24 with a one year old and extreme health anxiety so I've googled non stop and made myself feel awful every single day so if I have any advice it's stay off the web x
