Lump in nipple

Hi,

I am a 20 year old female and about 2 months ago I discovered a painful lump next to my nipple (areola area), it was very painful and sore and almost felt as hard as a stone. I went to my gp for it and was referred to a breast clinic for a mammogram.

However its recently decreased in size and almost disappreared but the skin where the lump was has gotten very thick.

Shall I be worried? Shall I still go to the breast clinic?

Thank you for reading and any advice given

  • My opinion is.....defo still go to the breast clinic.

You still need that area checked out, Anon.

It's more likely to be nothing to worry about but you do need that clearing up with the appropriate examinations.

Whilst you're waiting (keep your appointment), you can always inform your GP of these changes and see what they have to say.

I've had lots of problems with my boobs and thickening of the skin is one of the areas I've been taught to look out for on breast self exams....so I'm voting - YES - do go xX

  • Hi,

Thank you so much for replying and giving advice.

I have come to the conclusion I will go and get it checked out, I guess it was just nerves wanting to aviod it.

My apointment is on Sunday and will update on more info then.

Thank you for the support xx

  • Great news. Yes - easy to let anxiety get the better of us...but it does need checking out.
As it's barely even there anymore, you know the chances of it being something sinister may well be extremely low.
Yes - please do come back and let us know how you got on xx
