Don’t understand

So my dad has been really poorly went for chest X-ray which In turn resulted in ct scan which resulted in consultant appointment yesterday! He's due to go for a pet scan within the next 5 days, now my issue is they were discussing the fact he couldn't have chemo due to other health issues but Hopefully have radiation but he hasn't even had a biopsy! (It's his lung) they have referred him to Macmillan. I know drs are cautious to sayin it is without full results why talk about treatments if they don't know?! Is it just they are experts in the field and know from the scans an ultrasound?! If anyone can shed some light that would be amazing.
thank you for reading and sorry about waffling just a very scared daddy's girl

  • Hi Tfitzy,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can certainly understand your worries and I can imagine it was unsettling to hear them talking about this.

Perhaps they were just thinking about possible steps, although I'm sure it wasn't good hearing them talk about this prior to getting the results.

I hope it's not too much longer for you to wait to find out more. It is cliched but try to take things one day at a time - and of course use this forum as much as you'd like for any support.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Thank you for your reply, I have had a talk with my dad and he had a much clearer perception of this all, he said it's life and if there is nothing they can do I enjoy the time I have left. But he has his ct-pet scan on Monday and hopefully the results by the end of the week! Cannot fault how quick they are going with it it's only been 8 days since his first ct scan and he's had drs, hospital app with consultant and the hospital ringing for his next scan yesterday which is scheduled for Monday! It's just very scary as we lost my mum 2 years ago completely unexpected after beating  cancer. I love my pops and my kids absolutely adore him just hard to try and stay positive sometimes and be strong in front of him. But I am very appreciative of the reply and will try to think positive
