Check up after having severe dyskaryosis and positive HPV

Hi there I'm 31 and 6 month ago had a smear come back with severe dyskaryosis and positive for HPV, I had a colcoscpy and had the effected area removed, the results came back that there was a nice boarder around it and they got it all.

6 months on iv got back for a smear at the hospital and noticed my cervix has now gone brown in and around the area that I had removed, is this scar tissue or am I tight to be concerned? She didn't take a sample but did the smear with the scraping tool and sent that off which iv got to wait 5 weeks for. I bled and continued to bleed for a full week after again is this normal. She wouldn't tell me if she was concerned as I'm sure she can't and I'm unsure of what will happen if it comes back positive again. I can't wait 5 weeks I'd rather prepare my self if this all sounds concerning, I'm not looking for reassurance I'm looking for real answers on wether I'm right to be concerned and if anyone has had a similar issue with it being brown in the scar area

  • Hello Annie1988,

It sounds like you are very worried about this so I would book an appointment to see the GP and show the affected area. Your doctor will be in the best position to tell you more about this and give you some definite answers as to what it might be and if it is normal for it to be brown in the scar area. Do mention to your doctor that you have recently been treated for severe dyskaryosis and had a colposcopy.

I hope you get to hear from others here who have been in a similar situation.

    Best wishes,
