I saw my GP with a list of symptoms in late December who decided to send me for a colonoscopy.
This was carried out on the 6th January, this found a growth/blockage in the bowel, biopsy’s were taken, pre op marker tattoos done and MRI and CT scans arranged.
At this time the issue could be benign or cancer but either way an operation was the proposed solution. I was ok with this as it seemed a relatively ‘simple’ resolution and I didn’t give it much thought.
The scan results came back last week showing lesions on the liver, these could have existed for years I was told, so another MRI scan along with a full body PET CT scan have been arranged to be done prior to my consultant appt mid February.
It’s now I’ve become an “unwilling hypochondriac”, every little skin patch, ache and twinge goes through my thoughts!
I try to stick with facts, to date that is the known blockage, but the mind won’t always switch off!
My experience so far has been good and fast but these waiting periods are what give you time to let the mind wander and bring uneccessary worry in.
I wish everyone strength in their individual cases, I have nine days to get the consultants diagnosis.
