Stomach pain

Hi,

ive had severe stomach pain for 5 months now... all around my belly button but mainly in my flank area. I have lost a massive amount of weight but equally pile it back on and loss it again this repeats itself, along with other symptoms it's becoming incredibly uncomfortable. I have been to the hospital multiple times and because I suffer wit mental health problems I feel I've been dismissed I'll no longer go back as I feel a nusiance and have a sense of disbelief from the nurses this upsets me incredibly. I'm desperate for help as I can no longer suffer this pain anymore. Does anyone have any advice

  • Hi Teetee

Its unacceptable that they dismiss your symptoms due to mental health, you're in pain and they need to address this. I would go see your GP and expain what you have written here and ask for an explanation as to the pain and the evidence to back up that explanation, if there is no evidence then ask for tests to be carried out in order to ascertain what the problem is and put you on a treatment plan whether that is for a physical or mental condition. You've been in pain long enough now is the time to get it sorted. I wish you well.

  • Hi,

Thank you for the reply I have been back to my doctors multiple times with the same answer and they never give me an explanation. I've only ever had an ultrasound and routine blood tests never anything else. I've explained multiple times and everytime have been dismissed. I worry very much as stomach related cancers run strongly in my family and my aunt (like me suffered with mental health) was misdiagnosed with pancreatic cancer unfortunately by the time they had actually found it, it had spread. This is always in the back of my mind and I am terrified. I just don't know what to do anymore I feel extremely dismissed and honestly like I do no matter.

thank you again for your reply

  • Hi teetee

I can see why your mind heads towards cancer given that relatives have had cancer, however thats doesnt mean you will get cancer. The fact that you have been able to put on weight also suggests your symptoms are caused by something else, so bloods would show if there's an issue with cancer as would an ultrasound. At the end of the day you are in pain and this will be efffecting yout mental health so I would go back to your GP and concentrate on the pain. .I hope the GP is also addressing your mental health issues,

  • I had an ultrasound to check my liver nothing else so it wouldn't neccessarily have shown if they weren't looking in the right place, I had a routine blood test for appendicitis/ kidney infection etc it wasn't a wide check hence the reason I'm so worried. I do not neccessarily think it's cancer but being the majority of women and men in my family have had it at some point it's difficult to ignore. My weight as I said fluctuates drastically I'm nearly 19 years old and weigh 6 stone 13 as when I do put on a pound I then loose 4 in its place. I feel as though what I'm saying is just being misunderstood sorry to have wasted your time. Thanks for ur help
