Worried about lung cancer diagnosis

My mum who is 78 for the past year has been going downhill- tiredness, shortness of breath, blood in her sputum etc and last Thursday she gave up fighting and admitted she felt very very unwell as in pain all over her body.  Since then she has been prescribed oramorphe (dose now increased).  She has a chest x ray Monday but she is pretty certain it's lung cancer.  My dad died 15 yrs ago of it so remember the final stages.

I'm so annoyed that her GP practice has been so lackadaisical with the management of her pain.  I'm a senior manager in the NHS so eventually had to contact the lead GP who I know to actually come out to see her.
She has a lump on her neck which I presume is connected with the lymph nodes?

I'm feeling hopeless but interested to know other folks experiences from diagnosis to treatment plan?

thank you Fx

  • Hi Frang,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about what your mum is going through at the moment.

Unfortunately I can't advise on what this could be but hopefully you'll find out more before too long.

My reply here will boost your post so more people will see it and hopefully offer a reply, but otherwise I would encourage you to search or browse the forum to find relevant discussions that you may find helpful.

    Wishing you all the best,
