Potential Male Breast Cancer

Hi All,

Firstly, the bravery of you guys is truly an inspiration. You're amazing.

I'm a 38 year old male, and I suffer with UC, and have been taking carcinogens to keep me in remission. However over the last few weeks I've noticed a lump under my right nipple, and went to see the GP on Friday.

The GP fully examined me from top to bottom and said she couldn't be sure if it was breast cancer or build up of excess tissue. I'm absolutely terrified by this, especially since I have two very young children.

I'm booked in for a blood test on Monday and I'm waiting on an ultrasound. Will either of these tests confirm a diagnosis, or will I require further tests, biopsy etc? I ask as I feel like I'm in limbo, and I can't help but fear the worst. I suffer with anxiety attacks anyway, so my stress levels are through the roof. How do you get through this period before diagnosis?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi EddieV3,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about how you're feeling at the moment - the uncertainty and waiting for information is never easy.

As your appointment is today, the best thing will be to ask your doctor what the next stages could be in terms of finding out answers.

There may be a bit more of a wait for these answers but try to take things one day at a time.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
