Referral states 'suspected breast cancer' is that usual?

Hi

Had a little lump for months but as I have large lumpy breasts I didn't go as I suspected the doc wouldn't find it. Anyhoo, she struggled but found it eventually (pea sized).

Said it's practice to now send anyone over 35 with a lump that doesn't go for an urgent referral. Is that right?

I stupidly looked at my online notes and the referral states 'suspected breast cancer' in all honesty I wasn't worried but now it's creeping in...

  • Hi Hannah

im So glad to hear your appointment went well, what a relief! What did they say it was?

mine also went well thank god! I had convinced myself in the build up that it was breast cancer and my mental health was so poor. The radiographer felt it and told me she thought it was a lymph node, and on the ultrasound she said it wasn't this and it was very fatty glandular tissue. Most likely to do with hormones. It is still very tender and the lump is very prominent and I have constant armpit pain and aches but I'm so glad to get the all clear.

    Take care,

  • Hey!

It's really scary isn't it especially the waiting because your mind thinks the worst!

so I had a previously diagnosed fibroadenoma in the same breast which was still there (my doctor said it felt lumpy which scared me because it was smooth last time) then I had another lump in the same breast!
In the hospital the consultant on examination said she could feel something in my armpit but said that the new lump felt like my implant (I've had an augmentation previously)

the scan showed that the new lump was a fluid filled sac they said it's likely following my surgery and my fibroadenoma had shrunk from 10mm-6mm which is great! Scanned my armpit and that was fine too!

im really glad that it went well for us both! Thanks for your messages they really helped!
